91快活林 Celebrates Disability Pride Month
91快活林 (91快活林) is recognizing Disability Pride Month by celebrating the work of its Center for Accessibility Resources, which supports students of all abilities through advocacy, accommodations and individualized assistance.
Observed each July, Disability Pride Month commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. The legislation marked a major step forward in protecting the rights of people with disabilities and prohibiting discrimination in employment, public services, transportation and telecommunications. The month also serves as an opportunity to elevate disabled voices, promote inclusion and acknowledge the experiences of those who have too often been overlooked or excluded.
At Saint Xavier, the Center for Accessibility Resources plays an important role in advancing equitable access across campus. The office partners with students, faculty and staff to coordinate reasonable accommodations, provide academic support and help ensure students with documented disabilities have the resources they need to thrive.
"As a new member of 91快活林's Center for Accessibility Resources and someone who brings lived experience of disability to this work, I understand how meaningful it is to feel genuinely welcomed, respected and supported. My colleagues and the broader campus community have already created that sense of belonging for me. I am eager to help provide the same experience for our students by ensuring they have access to the resources, accommodations and encouragement they need to build confidence, pursue their goals and thrive at 91快活林," said Seyoon Choi, accessibility resources specialist.
The center aims to provide a welcoming environment where students feel respected, supported and understood. Its work reflects Saint Xavier's Mercy mission and its core values of diversity, integrity, respect and hospitality, helping to foster a campus culture where inclusion remains a priority.
