Former 91¿ì»îÁÖ Student Readmission

Former students looking to return to 91¿ì»îÁÖ after taking more than one semester off (excluding summer terms) have different requirements they must complete in order to be considered for readmission. Listed below are several categories that students may fall under.

Students Returning After One Semester

Students who fall under this category and have not been academically dismissed from the University do not have to fill out an application for readmission. These students can contact the Office of Records and Registration or their advisor to schedule an advising appointment to register for classes for the upcoming semester.

Students are advised to send in official transcripts from any school they attended after leaving 91¿ì»îÁÖ for the prior semester.

Students Returning After More Than One Semester

Admitted undergraduate students who left 91¿ì»îÁÖ in good academic standing and interrupted their college work for two or more semesters (excluding summer terms) must follow the steps below to reactivate their admission:

No application fee is required. Readmitted students are bound by the provisions of the University catalog that is in use at the time of their readmission. Students interested in returning to the nursing program need to follow the application procedure for transfer nurses listed on the transfer student admission section.

Students on Academic and/or Financial Aid Probation

Students who left the University while on academic and/or financial aid probation must contact the Office of Admission to apply for readmission. A student who left the University while on academic probation would be placed on academic probation if readmitted. The student must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average during the first semester after readmission in order to regain good standing (for most majors).

Amnesty Policy

A returning student who has not been enrolled at 91¿ì»îÁÖ for five or more years may request amnesty for one or two semesters of coursework. This policy will apply to all courses and credits from the selected semester(s). The Amnesty Policy will remove all prior grade points from the GPA for the selected one or two semesters at 91¿ì»îÁÖ. The courses and grades for the selected semester(s) will remain on the transcript with an amnesty notation; however, the GPA points will be removed and the courses' grades' impact on the GPA will be removed. Courses applied to the Amnesty Policy will not be applied toward any academic requirements. Students seeking amnesty must request a Petition for Academic Amnesty from the Executive Director of Records and Registration Services. The deadline for submission of the Petition for Amnesty is the Friday of the eighth week of the first reenrolled term at 91¿ì»îÁÖ. The Amnesty Policy can only be applied to a student record one time and is irrevocable.

Dismissed Students

A student who was dismissed from 91¿ì»îÁÖ for academic reasons will not be eligible to apply for readmission to 91¿ì»îÁÖ for one semester following such action. This student should demonstrate successful academic work elsewhere between the time of dismissal and reapplication. A student who would be considered for readmission ordinarily would have completed 12 credit hours of college work with at least a 2.0 grade-point average at another accredited institution. The University may stipulate conditions for readmission.

Students who have been academically dismissed must follow these steps:

  • Fill out an updated transfer student application.
  • The application personal statement should state the reasons for which the applicant considers the review and possible readmission justified.
  • Send in official transcript(s) from all schools attended after leaving Saint Xavier University.
  • Check with the Office of Financial Aid to see if your account has any financial holds; you may reach Financial Aid at 773-298-3070.
  • Additional information and/or materials may be requested at the time of application.
